September 2025: Subaru Loves Learning
At McGovern Subaru, we believe every child deserves the tools and support they need to thrive in school. That's why each year we proudly adopt 10 classrooms at Seabrook Elementary, donating $500 per class and hosting supply drives across our stores.
We know that teachers often spend their own money to provide essentials for their students and that too many children still start the school year without basics like pencils, crayons, or notebooks. By partnering with Seabrook Elementary, we hope to ease that burden and help create brighter learning experiences.
Last year, our contributions supported the creation of calming spaces for students who need a moment of peace, as well as engaging math games that made learning feel fun instead of intimidating. These may seem like small changes, but they have a significant impact on students' confidence and growth.
The Subaru Loves Learning initiative is close to our hearts because education shapes futures. We're proud to stand alongside these incredible teachers and students, and we look forward to continuing this tradition of care, compassion, and community.
August 2025: Breaking Barriers, Building Futures
At McGovern, we believe in shattering outdated stereotypes and opening doors to opportunity. While the automotive world has long been seen as a "boys-only" club, we're proud to say: that simply isn't true.
Each year, McGovern Automotive hosts Girls in Trades at Toyota of Nashua in Nashua, NH. This is a powerful initiative that invites young women to explore careers in automotive and beyond. With the fantastic support of Girls Inc., who buses in girls from their Nashua Center, the event is designed to inspire, educate, and empower.
We are already thinking of next year, and we are thinking BIGGER!We want everyone - our customers, family, friends, neighbors, and even their neighbors - to know about this initiative. It's imperative that women of all ages understand the wide range of careers available to them. Some paths even come with paid training opportunities or grants through local dealerships!
Girls Inc.'s mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. That spirit was on full display. The girls got hands-on experience at female-led stations, where they learned to:
- Replace wiper blades
- Change a flat tire
- Replace a light bulb
- Understand essential car owner information
These life skills aren't just practical they're empowering, giving young women confidence, knowledge, and independence. And it didn't stop there! Local police officers (including some incredible policewomen ) gave the girls a full tour of a police vehicle and talked about careers in law enforcement-another field where strong, smart, bold women are making a huge impact.
To top off the day, the fantastic team at the Toyota of Nashua café grilled up delicious burgers and hot dogs, with fruit plates and ice cream to cool things off. The weather? Absolutely perfect.It was an honor to help spark curiosity and possibility for the next generation. July 2025: McGovern Subaru Loves to Care
Today at McGovern Subaru, we had the honor of delivering hope and comfort. As part of the Subaru Loves to Care initiative, we proudly donated cozy blankets, thoughtful care packages, and handwritten cards of encouragement to the Cancer Ward at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. These messages weren't just from our team; they were also from our incredible customers, whose words of kindness will now reach those facing some of the toughest days of their lives. This annual tradition means so much to us. Partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society reminds us why we do this: to support their mission to cure blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS, and MPNs, and to help those affected find comfort and strength both emotionally and financially.
We also had the privilege of sharing gifts from a very special customer, Bill, who donated notebooks and get-well cards in honor of his wife, a proud cancer survivor. Bill shared that during her battle, he remembered seeing patients who had no one by their side. His gift was made so that no one feels alone. His generosity and compassion were deeply moving, and we were proud to stand alongside his kindness with our own. It was a powerful day of giving, full of purpose, connection, and care.
June 2025: Operation Blessing

At McGovern Subaru, we believe in listening to those little nudges that tell us, "Do something good today." That's why we were so honored to partner once again with Operation Blessing, an incredible local organization that makes a difference every single day.
Led by the truly inspiring Tammy Joslyn, Operation Blessing is more than just a shelter or donation center-it's a sanctuary. A place where kids can learn, grow, and feel safe. Where families can find warmth in the winter, food when the cupboards are bare, and hope when the days feel heavy. Tammy and her team give everything they have to help people of all ages, and they do it with love, dignity, and grace.
With the help of our outstanding employees and customers, we recently held a food drive and were able to donate over $700 worth of food and hygiene items to help stock their shelves. It was a beautiful reminder of what's possible when people come together with open hearts.

Our 9th Year Supporting a Truly Heroic Organization
This morning, our team at McGovern Subaru, alongside our partners at Subaru of New England, had the tremendous honor of presenting a $21,500 check to the New Hampshire SPCA - an incredible $5,000 more than last year's donation!
The NHSPCA holds a special place in our hearts. Their unwavering commitment to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals across New Hampshire inspires us every day. As part of Subaru's Share the Love® Event, Subaru donates $250 for every new Subaru purchased or leased. At McGovern Subaru, we proudly go even further - contributing an additional $75 for each vehicle sold or leased, plus $3 for every Subaru oil filter sold during oil changes.
This effort is powered by our amazing team and loyal customers, and we thank you all for making this possible.
The NHSPCA provides shelter and second chances to nearly 2,500 animals each year. As an open-admission, unlimited-stay facility, every animal gets the time, care, and compassion they deserve to find their forever home. From adoption and training programs to cruelty intervention and low-cost clinics, their work is nothing short of heroic.
This marks our 9th year of proudly supporting the NHSPCA - and we are honored to stand beside such a compassionate, life-changing organization.
April 2025: Breast Cancer Support Fashion Show & Silent Auction
At McGovern Subaru, we believe in driving more than just cars-we believe in driving hope, compassion, and support for our community. We were deeply honored to once again sponsor My Breast Cancer Support during their inspiring Fashion Show and Silent Auction. This heartfelt event beautifully blended fashion with philanthropy. This marks our second year proudly supporting this show and the upcoming Breast Cancer Support Gala and 5 K. The event was filled with love, laughter, and an incredible outpouring of community spirit. With 50 radiant models, 10 fabulous local boutiques, a sold-out venue, and every silent auction item claimed, it's safe to say the night was a resounding success.
Behind the glamour and style was a powerful mission: to uplift those in our local communities battling breast cancer. Since 2011, My Breast Cancer Support has made a profound difference in the lives of over 5,000 patients across New Hampshire and southern Maine, providing critical emotional and financial assistance during the most difficult times. Their work reminds us that no one fights alone. Every dollar raised helps provide essentials like housing, groceries, and transportation, easing burdens so patients can focus on healing. We are incredibly proud to stand beside such a devoted organization and to continue supporting its mission. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate Seacoast community - one step, one smile, one story at a time.
March 2025: Arbor Day Foundation
At Subaru, and those of us here at McGovern Subaru, believe that the world we leave behind reflects who we are. Because of that, we are dedicated to protecting and preserving our planet for future generations. As part of Subaru Loves the Earth this year, we teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation to keep our communities green! Trees are vital-they provide oxygen, clean our air and water, cool our neighborhoods, and even improve our health. However, we lose 36 million trees annually due to age, disease, and extreme weather. That's why we took action! With the help of the Arbor Day Foundation, we proudly gave away 100 free trees to residents of Newington, NH, and surrounding towns. Seeing the smiles on our customers' faces was a true reminder of how much we all care about the Earth.

March 2025: Operation Warm
What an incredible opportunity we had here at McGovern Subaru to partner with
Operation Blessing and their amazing volunteers in Portsmouth, NH, during our Operation Warm event. It was truly a day filled with heart, kindness, and community spirit. Subaru's partnership with Operation Warm allows us to give back to the community in such a meaningful way. We know that supporting our youngest members of society is crucial - it's not just about providing material items, but about building confidence and giving every child the opportunity to succeed.
Operation Warm is a nonprofit dedicated to giving the gift of new coats and shoes, ensuring that children can attend school, socialize with peers, and play outside with pride. They know that a brand-new coat or pair of shoes can make a world of difference in a child's life. It's a simple but powerful gift that builds self-esteem, and we are honored to be a part of that effort. This was our first year working alongside Operation Blessing, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Working with Tammy, the Director, and her wonderful team was nothing short of a blessing. With her years of experience and leadership, Tammy turned what could have been chaotic into a smooth, successful event. We are so grateful for her dedication and the amazing work done by all of the volunteers.
On March 26th, 2025, McGovern Subaru had the pleasure of handing out free socks, shoes, pizza, snacks, desserts, and drinks - all to fill the immediate needs of families in our community. We provided 110 pairs of shoes, each with two pairs of socks. And any remaining socks and shoes were boxed up and donated to Operation Blessing for future use. This event was a reminder of how powerful community collaboration can be. We are proud to be part of a team that is making a difference, one coat, one pair of shoes, and one smile at a time. Thank you to Operation Blessing, Operation Warm, our incredible volunteers, and everyone who helped make this day so special. Together, we're creating a stronger, more connected community.
January 2025:Â Make-A-Wish New Hampshire Foundation
At McGovern Subaru, we take immense joy in supporting some of the most incredible charities dedicated to giving back. Every year, we host a donation drive for Make-A-Wish and Toys for Tots, and we proudly uphold our commitment to helping the community we are a part of every day. This year, we wanted to take that commitment a step further. For Christmas, we had the privilege of adopting two families through the Make-A-Wish New Hampshire Foundation. We recognize families' emotional and financial challenges when caring for children with serious illnesses, and we wanted to do something special to make their holiday season brighter.
Working closely with Libby from Make-A-Wish, we connected with the families and received Christmas wish lists for each child. To make the experience even more magical, we hosted a Christmas party at our dealership, where we invited the families to celebrate the season with us. Each child received a gift from McGovern and presents from their wish list to take home-allowing parents to decide whether they were from Santa or Mom and Dad.
We served pizza, desserts, and drinks at the event while enjoying festive holiday music. The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and the season's true spirit. It was a heartwarming and unforgettable event, and we couldn't be prouder to have been a part of it. Looking ahead to 2025, we are already exploring ways to make next year's celebration even better.

December 2024: Toys For Tots Drop-Off
Our Toys for Tots Drop-Off Day was a resounding success, shining a light on our community's incredible strength and generosity. The sunny skies even joined in on the celebration, creating a perfect backdrop for this heartwarming event! Each year, McGovern Subaru of Acton proudly partners with the local Newington Police Department and Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to spread joy during the holidays for needy families. This partnership is not just a tradition; it embodies our commitment to making a difference in the lives of less fortunate people. The support we witnessed in 2023 was nothing short of extraordinary, as community members came together with open hearts and giving spirits. We are excited to share that 2024 has already surpassed all expectations, and we are so thankful.

September 2024: Coat Giveaway
How often do you think about being cold without a jacket in the winter? For many of us in this area, it's not something we typically worry about. However, for some, it's a real concern. Data USA shows 6% of families in Portsmouth live below the poverty line. While this may seem like a small percentage, for those experiencing it, the impact is significant-no matter the number. That's why McGovern Subaru is so grateful to have had the opportunity to host a coat giveaway. We're especially thankful for the families we met and the sweet children who were able to pick out new coats for the winter season.
While the kids were here, they enjoyed hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and other treats. In addition to the delicious food, they had a chance to interact with some very patient firefighters, EMTs, and police officers, who gave them a hands-on experience with fire trucks, ambulances, and patrol cars. Even Augie, our local bomb dog, joined the fun, letting the kids pet him as if they were lifelong friends.
A big thank you to our General Sales Manager, Christine Loan, who served as the day's master chef on the grill. Special thanks to Jim Eichelser and his wife, Ellen, for bringing their RV, setting it up in the parking lot, and providing much-needed shade under the awnings as the kids tried on their coats-it was an unexpectedly warm day!
Additional gratitude goes to Kyle Lewis and TJ Bill for helping the kids find the perfect coat sizes. Events like this wouldn't be possible without the support of amazing volunteers. We at McGovern Subaru would also like to extend a huge thank you to the Newington Police and Fire Departments for lending us your team for a few hours. They completely stole the show and brought so much joy to the children. We truly appreciate it-thank you!
September 2024: Subaru Loves Learning
We at McGovern Subaru are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to sponsor the Fox Point Sunset 5-Mile Road Race alongside the Newington School System for the second year in a row. Not only did we sponsor the event and provide water to the families and runners, but two of our dedicated employees Bill Bailey, our Parts Manager, and Shaun Lessard, our Service Manager-also chose to participate in the race, and our new sales associate Jay Boyd volunteered to drive the Pace Car in the race. It was fantastic to see the smiling faces of all the participants as they started, and even better to see many of them still smiling at the finish line.
This annual race is one of the school's largest fundraisers, featuring a scenic 5-mile (8K) course that winds through the historic streets of Newington Village, offering views of the water, farmland, and a few challenging hills. The Fox Point 5-Mile Road Race is the primary fundraiser for the Newington School Supporters, with all proceeds directly benefiting students at the Newington Public School. These funds help provide classroom technology, after-school programs, playground equipment, and more! We can't wait to do it again next year!
August 2024: Subaru Loves Learning
For the past month, we at McGovern Subaru have been collecting donated school supplies for Seabrook Elementary School in Seabrook, New Hampshire. It's hard to imagine that in an area where financial stability seems common, there are still children starting the school year without basic necessities like crayons, pencils, notebooks, or even folders. Unfortunately, this is a reality that many students face each year.
To help address this, McGovern Subaru has proudly adopted classes at Seabrook Elementary. Through this adoption, we donate money and supplies to support these children in ways that may not show immediate results but will undoubtedly impact their futures. Just because the effects aren't always visible doesn't mean we shouldn't get involved. This belief is at the heart of why we are so passionate about the Subaru Loves Learning initiative.
We love helping kids, and each year, we look forward to visiting the school to see the tangible results of our contributions. This year, we were thrilled to learn that last year's donations contributed to classroom upgrades, creating a more welcoming environment for students. Additionally, much-needed improvements were made to the library, making learning more enjoyable and accessible.
We also discovered that galvanized tubs will soon be installed, allowing students to get hands-on experience in growing plants-an exciting addition to their STEM education. Supporting this activation every year brings us immense joy, and we are eager to see how it continues to grow in the years to come.

August 2024:Â Help Restore Holiday Joy for Dover's Kids!
Recently, the Dover Fire Department's Toy Bank suffered a devastating loss due to an unexpected pipe burst, ruining all the toys they had acquired for this year's holiday season. But we're not letting that stop the holiday spirit!
A Big Thanks to Our Community Heroes: Matt Barker, General Manager of Portsmouth Toyota, AND Tim Hall, General Manager of McGovern Subaru who immediately stepped in to help when they heard the news. These two gentlemen teamed up with the incredible support of volunteers and the amazing team at Walmart, they collected 342 toys worth $2,908.86 in no time!These toys were delivered to the Dover Firehouse, where they were met with smiles and heartfelt thanks from the firefighters. However, there's still more work to be done to ensure every child in our community receives a gift this holiday season.

August 2024:Â Subaru Loves to Care - Breast Cancer Awareness Gala
For those of us at McGovern Auto who had the opportunity to attend the Breast Cancer Awareness Annual Evening by the Sea Gala, we want to say that it was an honor to be one of the many sponsors of this fantastic event. My colleagues and I had the opportunity to hear from some of the Survivors and family members of those who did not win their battle with this awful disease. It was such an overwhelming, heartfelt event. This Gala was so beautiful because of the many survivors and volunteers who poured in their love and time to make it happen. Their hard work and dedication made it exactly what it needed to be to not only raise money and awareness for breast cancer but also to celebrate the lives of so many survivors. The funds raised will go to helping those in the battle. Those fighting not only need help with gas and getting their cars worked on to ensure they can get to and from their doctors' appointments, but it also helps with paying rent or mortgages, buying groceries, or just the necessities.
In many cases, those in the middle of their battle cannot work and lose the money needed to care for themselves and their families. We are posting the link for this website as they always need additional funds. Raising money to help care for those in need is not a yearly event. It is a daily necessity.

July 2024: Seacoast Science Center Summer Concerts
At McGovern, we love being involved in our community, especially when it means enjoying the sun, listening to amazing music, and helping people. We're thrilled about our volunteer time alongside many others who volunteer at the Seacoast Science Center's on the daily and for their summer concert series sponsored by The Atlantic Grill. This summer series will be featuring some of New England's favorite bands. You can set up your chairs, enjoy the show, and dance on their new and improved tent floor.

For those of us here at McGovern Subaru, it was our privilege to donate blankets to the Cancer Ward at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Our commitment to donating these blankets extends beyond the event itself; it's about the happiness it brings to individuals facing one of the most challenging experiences of their lives. Partnering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is an honor, as their mission is to cure cancer and other blood diseases. They also provide financial support to those burdened by the cost of these illnesses, helping patients and their families in various situations.

McGovern Subaru is passionate about community involvement. Volunteering is one way we contribute. We've partnered with the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, New Hampshire, for our 'Subaru Loves the Earth' initiative. Volunteering to direct parking for the Seacoast Science Center's World Ocean Day was an honor. This global event celebrates the shared ocean that unites us. We here at McGovern Subaru, we take pride in our involvement with the community, particularly in the realm of education. Our 'Subaru Loves to Learn' initiative is founded on the belief that every child and their teachers are important. It was with great pleasure and honor that we sponsored the 2024 NH Excellence in Education dinner.
For many years, teachers received individual recognition, but there was no collective celebration. This changed in 1992 when a group of like-minded individuals gathered together in the Merrimack Valley High School library and organized an awards ceremony to honor dedicated teachers.
Teaching can often be a thankless job with few rewards. So, it is wonderful to support an event such as this! The New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards Program exists to acknowledge schools and individuals in New Hampshire who achieve high standards of excellence. These educators commit themselves daily to teach every child in their class that they are valued and that, with effort and determination, they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
The awards for outstanding elementary, middle, K-8, and high schools are based on criteria set by the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards Board of Directors. Each year, only one school per level is recognized. Selection committees identify schools worthy of the title 'Schools of Excellence,' and the winners are revealed at the annual New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards Celebration. May 2024: SPCAÂ Subaru Share The Love Event Check Presentation
It was such an honor to present a check for $16,500.00 to the NHSPCA. During our Subaru Share the Love Event, Subaru donates $250 for each new Subaru purchased or leased to both national and local charities. In addition, McGovern Subaru donates $75.00 for every vehicle sold or leased, plus $3.00 for every Subaru oil filter sold during an oil change. Thanks to the commitment of our staff and patrons, we raised this sum during the Subaru Share the Love Event and donated it to the admirable NHSPCA.Annually, the NHSPCA Adoption Center takes in nearly 2,500 unwanted, neglected, or abused animals yearly. Recently, we had the privilege of sponsoring the local non-profit organization My Breast Cancer Support during a Fashion Show and Silent Auction event. This event featured a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and mini fashion boutiques. The Fashion Show showcased beautiful women's spring fashions from several esteemed local vendors and boutiques. Founded by philanthropic women, including local businesswoman Jeanette Poulin, the Fashion Show aims to support non-profit organizations that provide advocacy, support, and care. Its mission is to create innovative fashion projects to fundraise for non-profits that positively impact the Greater Seacoast communities, blending fashion with philanthropy. In New Hampshire and Maine, over 2,000 individuals are diagnosed with breast cancer annually. Since its inception in 2011, My Breast Cancer Support has aided over 5,000 local breast cancer patients during their challenging journeys. This exceptional non-profit is committed to profoundly impacting the lives of local breast cancer patients by offering vital emotional and financial support. Their mission is to assist breast cancer patients and their families in the seacoast area of New Hampshire and southern Maine. April 2024: Subaru Loves The Earth
At McGovern Subaru, we're passionate about collaborating with those who are equally committed to giving back. April marks our Subaru Loves the Earth month, and we were thrilled to join forces with the Seacoast Paddleboard Club and The Blue Ocean Society for a beach cleanup at Pirates Cove Beach in Rye, NH.
It's crucial to
acknowledge that the staggering amount of waste dumped into the ocean annually
is counteracted by organizations like The Blue Ocean Society and their
dedicated volunteers. Thanks to them, we in New England can appreciate our
pristine beaches. In 2023, The Blue Ocean Society organized 348 beach cleanups
across 44 different sites with the assistance of 4,145 volunteers. Their
efforts led to the collection of 162,005 pieces of debris, totaling over 7,500
pounds.

April 2024: SPCA Slumba Pawty
McGovern Subaru is deeply committed to community involvement, engaging with both the people we encounter daily and the animals we cherish. Recently, we had the honor of participating in the SPCA Slumber Pawty Sleepover, aiding in fundraising for the local shelter. Thanks to our dedicated team, we successfully raised $1,000.00 for the SPCA, contributing to their mission. Our Parts Department Manager even spent a night in the kennel with an adorable pet awaiting adoption. Collaborating with the New Hampshire SPCA, which operates tirelessly to ensure the well-being of pets, is a privilege we hold dear. Participating in such a meaningful event, helping secure loving homes and providing financial support for these animals, is incredibly rewarding. The New Hampshire SPCA diligently cares for pets as they await their forever homes. Support for this exceptional organization is ongoing, as donations are always welcome. These contributions are vital for the care of all animals. The NHSPCA, supported by its staff and volunteers, dedicates numerous hours to animal protection and welfare, often reaching beyond local areas to help. April 2024: Crossroads House Subaru Share The Love Event Check Presentation
Annually, during our Subaru Share the Love Event, for every new Subaru purchased or leased, Subaru donates $250 to national and local charities. Additionally, McGovern Subaru contributes $75.00 for each vehicle sold or leased, plus $3.00 for every Subaru oil filter sold during an oil change.
At McGovern Subaru, we strive to be deeply integrated into our community, aspiring to be synonymous with Newington and Portsmouth. It is for that reason that we are so excited to partner with @cross_roads_nh  in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Thanks to our Salespeople and customers' support during the Share the Love Event, we raised $8,800.00 for this remarkable charity.
Established in 1982, Crossroads House has offered emergency and transitional shelter to the homeless in the New Hampshire Seacoast area. Their mission is to assist homeless individuals and families by providing the necessary tools and guidance for a successful transition to permanent housing. Crossroads House shelters an average of 100 people nightly, with their emergency shelter operating 24/7. We can't thank them enough for all of the amazing work they do in our local area. January 2024: Operation Warm
Annually, McGovern Subaru collaborates with Operation Warm to distribute coats and shoes to children in need within our community. Operation Warm, a national nonprofit, produces new, high-quality coats and athletic shoes, providing children with both physical and emotional comfort. Receiving a new coat or shoes boosts children's self-esteem in a manner that used clothing cannot, enabling them to attend school, interact with peers, and play outside confidently. Families in poverty often struggle to afford basic needs such as food, housing, and clothing. A new coat or shoes not only brings hope to these children and their families but also signals that their community cares for their welfare and future. This year, alongside Operation Warm, we've joined forces with Operation Blessing to distribute new coats to local children in need, covering sizes from 2T to Junior 18. As a business, we're honored to contribute to our community, recognizing the duty of local businesses to support its members.
